Yottery Closure >
Your Committee has decided to give notice that the Yottery will cease after the Christmas 2023 Grand Draw. After a detailed review it was found that each year the number of Yottery members was declining with little or no replacement. Over the last few years, the financial return to the Club has been in relative decline, whilst the administration has proved increasingly difficult, and it was concluded that without a significant hike in future contribution rates (and no increase in prizes) this could not be reversed. We concluded such a hike, in the current ‘cost of living crisis’ would lead to even more Yottery members resigning and thus even lower returns. Considering the administration time and costs to run the Yottery, it was felt that there were other, better ways of raising funds for one-off projects and that closure was agreed to be the best course of action.
Over the years the Yottery has played its part in the life of the Club and the Committee would like to thank all Members who contributed over those many years.
We will be writing again with more precise details as to how the Yottery will be closed down. For now, it is our intention to run until the December Grand Draw. As members will know, payments to the Yottery are made by Standing Orders which can only be cancelled by the member. Accordingly, we would ask all members to review their STO's such that they pay the December contribution but cease thereafter. We will be making special arrangements for those who have made payments in advance going beyond December.
