REGATTA 2012 19th to 25th August

The Fowey Royal Regatta is regarded by many as one of the best local regattas in the country and is usually held over the third full week of August.  It is very much a family regatta, being part of the Fowey Carnival week, with events occurring daily on the Town Quay, carnival processions, the Red Arrows, gig racing, two firework displays and other entertaining events and activities including the hotly contested children's crab catching competition.

Regatta 2012: 19 - 25 August.
The sailing regatta will follow its usual form with yacht passage races to and from Falmouth on 19 and 20 August, then for the yachts round the buoys every morning on Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday will see the introduction, as a trial, of two shorter races back to back around the buoys in St Austell Bay. Friday (Sponsors Day) completes the yacht racing with a longer race for the "Tribute" trophy and the Lloyds Bank Cup.  For the dinghies and dayboat classes there will be two races a day on Tuesday to Friday and the traditional Falmouth Working Boats in-harbour race on Thursday evening just prior to the Red Arrows display.  Children's races take place on Saturday morning prior to the gig racing in the afternoon.

Concessionary mooring fees are available for yachts and Sunbeams  – details are on the Entry Form. Dinghy competitors requiring a trailer space are requested to contact the Fowey Harbour Commissioners direct as there is restricted space at Caffa Mill (landing slip), Penmarlam (Mixtow) and the Old Station car park, near Caffa Mill. Dinghy competitors new to Fowey are strongly recommended to arrive early to secure a space and review the arrangements for launching.
