Royal Fowey Yacht Club

Patron:  HRH The Prince Philip,

Duke of Edinburgh, KG, KT, OM, GBE

The Club enjoys a superb waterside setting with a bar, dining room and relaxing seating areas.  Outside there is a wide terrace from which the full panorama of the harbour may be enjoyed.

Other amenities include disabled access, hot showers, up to date weather forecasts, magazines, newspapers, a coffee and tea-making facility – all available during Club opening hours.

The Club plays a full part with others in promoting and organising weekly sailing races, including the racing programme during the Fowey Royal Regatta, held in August each year.

Throughout the year, the Club offers a full social programme and in the winter a number of formal Flag Officers Dinners are held and there is a full programme of Wednesday evening talks.

The Club offers a warm welcome to all visiting yachtsmen and their families.

Admission of Members

Anyone interested in joining the RFYC, but who doesn’t know an existing member, should visit the Club Office where they will be advised about the procedure for admission to the Club.

If, however, you have a Proposer, he or she will be invited to arrange with the Secretary an informal meeting at the Club to introduce you to members of the Management Committee.  Subsequently you will be enrolled as a Temporary Member and a Proposal Form will be issued to your Proposer to complete and submit to the Management Committee via the Secretary.

The election of candidates for membership shall be vested in the Management Committee.  Every proposal shall be displayed on the Club notice board for not less than 10 days before being submitted to the Management Committee, who, at the next monthly meeting shall proceed with the election or rejection of the candidate.  Voting is by ballot.

All enquiries should be made to the Honorary Secretary of the Club or Mrs Claire Sumner, either by calling in at the Office or by telephone.

Telephone:  01726 833573

Office Hours:  Monday to Friday, 0930 to 1330

Membership

There are various categories of membership, although the vast majority are Ordinary Members who are designated as either Inport (living in Cornwall) or Outport (living outside Cornwall for at least eight months in each financial year).  Temporary membership is also available.

Annual subscriptions vary according to type of membership and age of members.  On joining, this is pro-rata according to the month of election.  An Entrance Fee is payable, which is equivalent to one year’s subscription, and the payment is spread over three years.  This is your investment or stake in the Club.
