As we move into this year’s sailing season we look forward with hope for better summer weather than last year.  Our Sailing Sub-Committee, in conjunction with the Port of Fowey Race Organising Committee (POFROC), has been busy organising a full programme of racing for Cruisers, Troy Class and Dinghies, together with arrangements for the Fowey Royal Regatta in August.  Details of the racing programme can be found elsewhere in this website.

Throughout the past winter period we enjoyed a full programme of social events, including formal dinners, informal themed supper evenings and a regular series of weekly talks.  These talks covered a very wide and varied range of subjects from music, antiques, Newquay Zoo and finished with an interesting account of her experience of her Atlantic ARC race given by one of our young members.

The House Sub-Committee has been busy during the winter dealing with routine general maintenance to the Club premises, together with works to comply with various bits of legislation.  The ladies showers and toilet area is currently undergoing essential repair together with general improvements.  This work has been enabled mainly as a result of generous donations resulting from my earlier appeal to members.  We are very grateful to those members who have already made donations.

As can be seen from the list of events, arrangements can be made for a variety of functions and organisations at the Club, and we would encourage members to utilise the facilities as much as possible for their own special occasions or for their organisations.  Please contact the Hon. Secretary’s office to make arrangements.  We would also encourage members to make full use of the Club throughout the week for their casual meals and/or drinks.  The location looking out over the harbour is a superb place to arrange to meet your friends.

We look forward to welcoming all members to the Club, together with all visiting yachtsmen, both old and new friends.

Have a good sailing season.
